I don’t want to take away from this with my commentary. Please watch it. I hope it speaks to you the way it did me.
Meet our dog Leaf. She has been everything I have wanted in a dog and more. Doesn’t chew the house up, rarely barks, not aggressive towards the kids, nice to strangers. We hit the dog lottery with her.
We adopted her from Heartland Weimaraner Rescue. Great organization and a great way to find a pet for your home.
If you have seen Coldplay’s show in support of Viva la Vida then you will recognize this awesome shot by Martin Buzora.
I love it when my children demonstrate courage. I often look for opportunities to push them out of their comfort zone to see how they will respond. Sometimes it can be the smallest of adventures that reveal the most about ourselves.
For example, last night I took my six year old son to get his haircut. This has become something of a Father and Son ritual but this time I was not getting a haircut so my boy was going it alone. I decided I would push his boundaries and wait in the lobby while he worked with the stylist to select a cut. I gave some basic direction but thought I would let them figure out the details on their own. After all, it’s just hair. Oh, and I did ask that the stylist wash my son’s hair since I knew it more than likely needed it, this too would be a new experience for my son.
Towards the end of the cut I panicked when I realized that this barber also gives a hot towel treatment and that my son would in no way go for a steaming hot towel put over his face while some stranger gave him a massaging shampoo. I ran back from the lobby to the wash room to save the day and sitting there in the chair was a calm and cool boy enjoying the hot steam towel and messaging shampoo.
I love this little boy. He seems to find courage even when his Dad can’t.
